Florida Medicaid Managed Care Re-procurement RFI Released

The Agency for Health Care Administration released a five-page RFI on May 6, 2022

May 20, 2022  – Anthem, Inc. recently announced its acquisition of New York-based Integra Managed Care. The insurer announced in November 2021 plans to acquire the long-term care plan with the goal of closing the deal by the end of Q2 2022.

Integra is a managed care company that provides managed long-term care plans in New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester. Integra helps members live independently through a dedicated care management team. These care teams include a Social Worker, Registered Nurse, and Coordinator that work closely with providers, members, and their families to ensure that care needs are met.

With the successful close this month, over 40,000 Medicaid members will be brought into Anthem and have access to services for those with disabilities or that require long-term care.

“We’re pleased to complete this acquisition and work alongside our new colleagues as we continue to grow our Medicaid business and enhance the healthcare experience for all of our members,” said Felicia Norwood, Executive Vice President of Anthem’s Government Business Division. “Anthem and Integra’s shared commitment to deliver high quality, comprehensive whole-health care across communities throughout New York ensures that our members will continue to receive the care and support services that they have come to expect.”

Anthem Continuing Growth in Managed Care Realm

Anthem has repeatedly used acquisitions to expand its government business division.

“This acquisition aligns with our goal of growing Anthem’s Medicaid business, while serving our members with a comprehensive and coordinated approach to care,” Norwood said at the time of the original announcement.

Previously, Anthem acquired myNEXUS in March 2021 and cited whole-person care as the main motivation. The acquisition of Integra Managed Care falls in line with that. Not only will it boost Anthem’s government business in Medicaid, but it will also allow them to provide quality, whole-person care.
